How it works
A desk panel that shows your Claude Code and Codex usage at a glance. What Claudex Status does, what it’s built with, and how far along it is.
The premise
Claudex Status is an always-on touch panel, running on a Raspberry Pi, that shows how you’re using Claude Code and Codex across all your machines. A small agent on each computer watches both CLIs and sends activity and rate-limit data to the Pi.
It looks like a split-flap departure board with a CRT glow. It shows each rate-limit window and whether you’re on pace to make it to the reset, what your usage would cost at API prices, and your sessions and records. Setup is a four-digit pairing code, or one USB-C cable: plug the Pi in and it shows up as a drive with the agent installer on it.
What’s included
Rate-limit windows with a forecast of whether each one lasts until it resets
Cost at API rates, cache efficiency, sessions and personal records
Pair with a four-digit code, or with a single USB-C cable
A macOS menu bar app and a Windows and Linux tray app for the host agent
How it’s built
Claudex Status is built on Python, FastAPI, TypeScript, Vite, SQLite and Raspberry Pi.
The repository is 60% Python, 27% TypeScript, 8% Shell, 5% CSS by volume.
It carries 133 commits since Aug 2026, most recently changed in Sep 2026.
How the work is done
Every project here starts as a written spec, and the spec stays the source of truth once there’s code. The repository keeps a build plan with current status, an append-only decision log of where the code departed from the plan, and a handoff document that describes where things stand, including the unfinished parts.
That’s how one person keeps this many projects moving, and it’s what this page is written from.
Current state
In development. Being worked on now.
The source is private, so the way to check what this page says is to use the product.
