How it works
Know how much filament is left on every spool. What Filament Tracker does, what it’s built with, and how far along it is.
The premise
A self-hosted inventory for 3D printer filament. Register a spool, weigh it, print a barcode label, and scan it in and out. It works out how much is left from the weight, and it can watch a Bambu P1S and deduct what each print uses automatically.
It runs as a server plus one Tauri app that works both as a Windows desktop app and as a touchscreen station on a Raspberry Pi next to the printer. The station talks to a barcode scanner, a Bluetooth label printer and a serial scale, and updates itself over the air with signed releases.
What’s included
Works with a barcode scanner, a Bluetooth label printer and an RS-232 scale
Watches a Bambu P1S and matches AMS slots to spools automatically
Check-in and check-out with an audit log and snapshot restore
Signed over-the-air updates for the Raspberry Pi station
How it’s built
Filament Tracker is built on Rust, Axum, SQLite, Tauri 2, Svelte 5 and Raspberry Pi.
The repository is 57% Rust, 29% Svelte, 7% TypeScript, 3% Shell by volume.
It carries 76 commits since Sep 2026, most recently changed in Oct 2026.
How the work is done
Every project here starts as a written spec, and the spec stays the source of truth once there’s code. The repository keeps a build plan with current status, an append-only decision log of where the code departed from the plan, and a handoff document that describes where things stand, including the unfinished parts.
That’s how one person keeps this many projects moving, and it’s what this page is written from.
Current state
In development. Being worked on now.
The source is private, so the way to check what this page says is to use the product.
