How it works
One desktop app for writing a DEngine game and building its worlds. What DIDE does, what it’s built with, and how far along it is.
The premise
DIDE is the editor for DEngine: a code IDE and the scene and content editors in one window, for macOS on Apple silicon and 64-bit Windows. The code half is built. It has Monaco, language servers for C, Slang and CMake, git, CMake builds, a test explorer and debuggers on both platforms, AI with providers you configure, plugins, and the Andare, Disegno and Trama tools inside it.
The game half is under way. Editing a running game is built: the viewport, gizmos, hierarchy and inspector with undo, play-in-editor including multiplayer, and input replay. It’s tested against a stand-in engine, because DEngine doesn’t serve the editor protocol yet. Asset tools are being built now, with world building, animation and audio planned after them. It isn’t published.
What’s included
A code IDE built on Monaco, with language servers, git, CMake builds, tests and debugging
Debugging on both platforms: lldb on macOS, and DbgEng with crash dumps on Windows, plus GPU capture and a profiler view
AI with your own providers, including an agent whose changes you review before they land
Edit a running game: pick, move and inspect anything in the world, with undo, play-in-editor and input replay
A plugin host with permissions, and Andare, Disegno and Trama built in
How it’s built
DIDE is built on Rust, Tauri, TypeScript, Monaco, C and Direct3D 12.
The repository is 64% Rust, 28% TypeScript, 6% C by volume.
It carries 361 commits since Oct 2026, most recently changed in Oct 2026.
How the work is done
Every project here starts as a written spec, and the spec stays the source of truth once there’s code. The repository keeps a build plan with current status, an append-only decision log of where the code departed from the plan, and a handoff document that describes where things stand, including the unfinished parts.
That’s how one person keeps this many projects moving, and it’s what this page is written from.
Current state
In development. Being worked on now.
The source is private, so the way to check what this page says is to use the product.
